6 Bedroom House in Pelham, Village of Pelham
Cozy 1910 Arts and Crafts brick house on a secluded cul-de-sac street. Yet very conveniently located less than 2 minutes by foot to the Metro North train station which takes you to Grand Central Station, Manhattan in 30 minutes. A perfect location to unwind after a full day of sightseeing, shopping, a Broadway show, etc.
An almost park-like setting on a granite hill with large oak trees overlooking the green neighborhood. The small village center down the hill with its delikatessen-supermarket, bank, several restaurants, bars, etc. can be reached in less than 5 minutes by foot or the bikes in our garage. The house was built for 'Jackrabbit' Johannsen of Nordic Skiing/Lake Placid and Olympics fame in 1910. He liked it because of the 'wilderness' around it at the time.
It is best to look at the pictures to get an ideas of the inside and out - and feel free to ask us questions in English, Francais, Deutsch or Espagnol! The house has been kept true to period but is furnished with simple, modern furniture. There is hardwood flooring throughout - exept for the tiled kitchen. The living room has a fireplace, and an adjacent, light-filled library off it. A wood-paneled dining room that seats 6-8 next to the kitchen with breakfast nook (for 4) and separate laundry room and mud-room back entrance. Up a flight of stairs (there is a 1st floor toilet under the stairs) you get to 4 bedrooms around a central corridor. Two bedrooms at opposite ends of the house have queen-sized beds and adjacent sun-rooms/offices. The other two bedrooms have single beds, but there is a sofa couch if another (likely child) wants to join. There are two full bathrooms (with showers, one with bath tub) on this floor. The third floor has a low entrance ceiling (best for kids and teens) but then opens up to two small bedrooms, a corridor and a hlaf bath (only bath tub).
Outside there is a furnished terrace in the back that fits 6-10 and a terracotta-tiled furnished veranda in the front that fits 2-4. We also have our own 'ravine' with granite outcrops that leads down to a sunk garden - that we never use ;-)

Maison en briques de 1910 style 'Arts and Crafts' sur une rue tranquille cul-de-sac. Pourtant très bien situé à moins de 2 minutes à pied de la station de métro Nord qui vous emmène à la Grand Central Station, Manhattan en 30 minutes. Un emplacement idéal pour se détendre après une journée complète de visites, shopping, un spectacle de Broadway, etc
Un cadre semblable à un parc sur une colline de granit avec de grands chênes surplombant le quartier vert. Le centre du petit village en bas de la colline avec son supermarché delikatessen, banque, plusieurs restaurants, bars, etc peut être atteint en moins de 5 minutes à pied ou les vélos dans notre garage. La maison a été construite pour 'Jackrabbit' Johannsen de ski nordique / Lake Placid et la renommée des Jeux Olympiques en 1910. Il l'a aimé à cause de la «nature sauvage» autour de lui à l'époque.
Il est préférable de regarder les photos pour obtenir des idées de l'intérieur et de l'extérieur - et n'hésitez pas à nous poser des questions en anglais, en français, en allemand ou en espagnol! La maison a été tenue fidèle à la période, mais est meublée avec des meubles simples et modernes. Il ya des planchers de bois franc partout - sauf pour la cuisine carrelée. Le salon a une cheminée, et une bibliothèque adjacente, léger-hors de lui. Une salle à manger lambrissée qui occupe 6-8 à côté de la cuisine avec petit déjeuner coin (pour 4) et salle de lavage séparée et entrée de la boue arrière. Jusqu'à un escalier (il ya une toilette au premier étage sous les escaliers), vous arrivez à 4 chambres autour d'un couloir central. Deux chambres aux extrémités opposées de la maison ont des lits doubles et pieces adjacents bureaux. Les deux autres chambres ont des lits simples, mais il ya un canapé si un autre (enfant probable) veut rejoindre. Il ya deux salles de bains complètes (avec douches, une avec baignoire) à cet étage. Le troisième étage a un plafond d'entrée un peu bas (mieux pour les enfants et les adolescents), mais ouvre ensuite sur deux petites chambres, un couloir et un bain hlaf (baignoire seulement).
À l'extérieur, il y a une terrasse meublée à l'arrière qui correspond 6-10 et une véranda en terre cuite-carrelage meublé à l'avant qui correspond à 2-4. Nous avons aussi notre propre «ravin» avec des affleurements de granit qui mène à un jardin coulé - que nous n'utilisons jamais ;-)
